Operations & Hospitality Lead

Filament believes the world works better when people meet better.

To support this work, we’re looking for a humble, hungry, and smart Operations and Hospitality Lead who’ll masterfully integrate our internal operations and hospitality efforts to ensure that every time someone visits Filament, they walk away wowed and ready to return.

What is an Operations and Hospitality Lead?

Filament’s code name for this job is “The Orchestrator” because you’ll play a pivotal role in synchronizing the diverse facets of our organization, from internal operations to event execution. This position is crucial in ensuring that every component of Filament works in unison to deliver seamless and impactful experiences.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys engaging with insightful clients, and is keen on continuously developing their skills — all while making significant contributions to the innovation, corporate, and nonprofit sectors within our St. Louis community.

Not surprisingly, our perfect candidate for this job has many different skills and experiences, so we’re casting a wide net to find the perfect fit.

What attributes will an ideal Orchestrator possess?

If that sounds good so far, here’s a bit more about you:

  • You’re a people person:  Your energy peaks in the company of others, where your passion for delivering unparalleled service transforms ordinary interactions into exceptional experiences.

  • You’re a self-starter:  When you see something that needs to be done, you spring into action without hesitation, though you’re able to ask for help when you need it.

  • You’re a digital problem-solver:  Your knack for leveraging digital tools and platforms will elevate our work and streamline our processes.

  • You’re an early bird:  You don’t shy away from working in the morning and would rather finish a great day early vs. starting it late.

  • You’re purpose-driven: You’re motivated to do work that matters with a team you trust and long to do work that delivers real impact to your customers and your community.

What will the Orchestrator do every day?

Because our Orchestrator will work at the intersection of Filament’s internal processes and external interactions, job duties will include:

  • Optimize Filament’s daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Implement processes that utilize our digital tools and platforms to enhance both internal operations and client experiences.

  • Direct and participate in the setup, execution, and breakdown of Filament's hosted events and meetings, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for all participants.

  • Foster a welcoming and hospitable environment, attending to the needs of clients and guests with exceptional service and care.

  • Engage with external partners and vendors, including service providers and our Cortex District partners, to maintain high-quality service standards.

  • Manage our inventory of office supplies, event materials, and technological equipment, ensuring availability and readiness for all activities.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and requests during events, ensuring swift and satisfactory resolution.

  • Lend a hand to help Filament teammates as necessary.

How will the Orchestrator work with the Filament Team?

At Filament, five Principles guide the way we work:

  • We Work Joyfully by blending purpose, creativity, enthusiasm, and play into everything we do.

  • We Help Generously by going the extra mile for our teammates, our customers, and the community.

  • We Communicate Clearly by striving for clarity, listening openly, and valuing honesty when we speak, write, and draw.

  • We Engage Inclusively by meeting people where they are, championing diversity, and fostering belonging every time we gather.

  • We Experiment Tirelessly by starting small, beginning quickly, and embracing the “shitty first draft” because we’d rather fail and learn than fail to try.

Where and when will the Orchestrator work?

While Filament supports a flexible work environment, the nature of this position necessitates regular on-site participation to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.  That’s why this role requires working at our Filament office in St. Louis at least four days a week, reflecting our commitment to in-person collaboration and client engagement.

What is the salary?

The initial salary for this position is between $45,000 and $60,000, complemented by performance-based incentives and team bonuses that can increase earnings by up to 20%, but we recognize unique talents and are willing to negotiate an enhanced compensation package for candidates with exceptional skills and experience.

We are also flexible regarding employment arrangements, including considering part-time opportunities.  For standout applicants, we're open to customizing the role or potentially distributing responsibilities across multiple individuals.

In addition to competitive pay, Filament offers a range of benefits: flexible Paid Time Off (PTO), complimentary parking, and a health club membership. Our comprehensive benefits package also includes employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, with options to extend subsidized coverage to your family.
